When does an icon become a collection of ideas rather than an individual? Director Pablo Larraín (Jackie, No) suggests that, in the case of Diana, Princess of Wales (nee Spencer), it was a process that began while she was still an active member of the British royal family. Appropriately lavish, swooning with music (by Jonny Greenwood), and laced with menacing violence, Spencer is anchored by an astonishing performance by Kristen Stewart. This film proposes that much of what we think we know so well is in fact a story others have compelled us to accept, often inhabited by a character trapped in the fantasy-nightmare, desperately trying to claw their way out.
The screening will start at 7.30pm ET.
Tickets available from 28 October.
