James Woods mentions Kristen

On Kristen Stewart and Eventually Directing:

“I was set to do ‘An American Girl’ with Kristen Stewart and then this happened. Now we’re just working out an agreement on the rights. It’s still something she very much wants to do. I’m hoping she’ll do that. It’s torturous getting things made. For example, that movie, because it’s a post-Middle East war film, and it’s about it happening, it works better when the ‘war is over’ than it does during it. No one has ever done a movie about a woman marine. Which is why I want to do it.

She’s perfect for it. She was 18 when we first talked about it. She has a natural — and I mean this as a compliment — American, hometown, tough blue collar girl thing she can deliver. I was thinking of ‘Into the Wild.’ She’s been in these big blockbuster movies, but I love her in small movies where she gets to explore character. I would believe her as a young woman marine. I’ve spent a lot of time around military people. One of the things I was worried about is that she became so beautiful. ‘Stop being so beautiful!’ She grew into this raging beauty. But she can still play a real person.”

Kristen at no. 4 on Forbes' 'Most Powerful Actress' list

Kristen Stewart

No. 4

With the Twilight money still rolling in (for now), Stewart makes her fourth appearance on the Celebrity 100 list after topping our list of Hollywood's Highest-Paid Actresses last year. This is likely to be Stewart's last Celebrity 100 list for a while though. While she helped make Snow White and the Huntsman a hit, a sequel is still a ways off and the actress doesn't seem terribly interested in doing more big-budget movies.

Kristen is also included (at no. 70) in the 'Celebrity 100 Most Powerful' List, which was previously posted here.

Kristen talks about James Gandolfini's passing

They were mismatched from the get-go.

James Gandolfini was hulking, fearsome, and bristling with submerged rage and grief. Kristen Stewart was tiny, fragile and fronting false confidence as she spiraled into self-destruction.

At least, those were their characters in Welcome to the Rileys, a 2010 indie drama starring her as a teenage stripper/prostitute and him as the well-meaning but misguided father of a deceased child who thought he could try and save her instead.

Stewart has been silent since Gandolfini’s unexpected death last week from a heart attack at age 51, but with his funeral set for Thursday in New York, she is opening up about the loss of a friend and colleague:

“When I heard of James’ passing I was in New Orleans, where we met shooting, and every memory flooded back and gutted me,” she tells EW in a statement. “I’ll hold that time near to me forever.  He was immeasurably great. My heart goes out to his beloved family.”

Nicolas Ghesquiere mentions Kristen in 032c Magazine + new quotes from Kristen

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com

Ghesquiere's farewell collection, Spring/Summer 2013, evoked strong reactions all around and for good reason. Members of the close-knit creative team at Balenciaga say it is one of the most technically proficient and sensual. Like many of the dedicated designers who strongly identify with their former creative director, firebrand actress Kristen Stewart knows a fellow renegade when she meets one; Stewart, an ambassador for the brand's second new fragrance Florabotanica admires Ghesquiere. She wore the opening look from Spring/Summer 2013 to the LA premiere of 'On the Road', days after PPR's fateful announcement.

Unhampered and lively on the phone, she sketched a portrait of Ghesquiere worthy of the beatniks: "He is a reminder of how fucking annoying everyone else is. It's not easy to walk a line that not every single person in the world is going to get in a second. Nicolas is the sort of person who loves swimming in rough water." Stewart's vision of Ghesquiere, which she has gleaned from engagements like a joint appearance at the 2012 Costume Institute Gala, is as infectious as it is insightful.

"He's most comfortable when he's terrified," she tells me about her exchange with Ghesquiere backstage at what was to be his last trip down the runway for Balenciaga, "I was like 'Dude, are you okay?" and he was like (in a French accent), 'Yes. Yes. I will tell you soon, but there are things happening.' Before I left, he was like, 'All right, I'll tell you.' I'm so fucking proud of him because what he was about to do would rock people's worlds. He was just like ' Believe for me.' I thought it was the coolest fucking thing."

"I've felt the happiest I've ever felt wearing these clothes. I've also felt androgynous and rigid. Sort of like you're wearing a fucking building," says Kristen Stewart. Thanks to Ghesquiere, Stewart has learned that fashion doesn't necessarily conceal like a mask but can spark aspects of one's personality that are otherwise sedated: "You can play any character you can imagine in these clothes."

"I just don't want him to have his hands stuffed in his pockets, sitting down like he's resting from a fight. No, I think it should be his fucking thing. I mean if you're going to do it, do it young. Don't add on to someone else's life."

Nicolas mentions Kristen:

Florabotanica was the second fragrance and with this one I asked them to name the target: They said, "It has to be very young and to relate to your fashion, Ghesquiere for Balenciaga." I met Kristen Stewart on a Bruce Weber shooting when was 13 years old and we got along well. I loved her. A few years ago I did her dress for the Twilight (2008) premiere. We weren't friends, but we had a connection. She's perfect for Balenciaga if you want a younger audience, I told them. She's totally sensual and sexy but she's tomboyish. She's not afraid to be popular, even commerical but she's also punk."

Peyman Moaadi cast as Kristen's co-star in 'Camp X-Ray'

Peyman Moaadi, who starred in the Oscar-winning foreign film "A Separation," is set to star opposite Kristen Stewart in writer-director Peter Sattler's politically-charged indie drama "Camp X-Ray," TheWrap has learned.

Stewart stars as Cole, a young soldier who escapes her suffocating small town by joining the military, only to find that she's been stationed at Guantanamo rather than Iraq, as she had hoped. Met with hatred and abuse from the Muslim men in charge, she forges an odd friendship with Ali (Moaadi), who has been imprisoned at Gitmo for eight years.

"Army Wives" star Joseph Julian Soria will co-star as one of Stewart's closest friends on the base.

Gina Kwon and Sophia Lin are producing, which David Gordon Green is executive producing with Lindsay Williams and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. Production will begin later this summer in Los Angeles.

Moaadi is an accomplished screenwriter who has penned several famous Iranian films and recently made his directorial debut with the award-winning drama "The Snow on the Pines." He started his acting career in Asghar Farhadi's 2009 film "About Elly" before reuniting with the director on "A Separation."

Moaadi will soon be seen alongside Morgan Freeman in "The Last Knights" and he also worked with James Gandolfini on the HBO pilot "Criminal Justice," which is now in limbo following Gandolfini's death. He's repped by Shelley Browning of Magnolia Entertainment.

New/old Kristen interview with Maxima Magazine (Portugal)

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com

Kristen Stewart

A new dawn

Young, very young, with a maturity drawn by experience and wisdom. We found her between Twilight adolescence and adulthood novelty. Breaking Dawn: part 2 is coming. By then On the Road...
(By Paulo Portugal, in Cannes)

Kristen Stewart four years ago, she could never have anticipated the turmoil that barely expects to sign the contract to start with Robert Pattinson, the couple romantic of The Twilight Saga, based on Stephenie Meyer’s books.

This girl with precocious talent, born and grown up in Los Angeles 22 years ago, was anything but alienated with what was happening in the middle of the film. As her parents both worked in films and television, the constant visits to the sets shooting were part of her life. It was therefore natural that lived to 11 years relevant experience in the first film The Safety of Objects, in the company of Glenn Close. Sooner demonstrated tremendous expressive availability however used the creepy Panic Room, playing the daughter of Jodie Foster.

Before reaching maturity, had the privilege of being shaped by Sean Peen in masterpiece about the fury of living called Into the Wild. Until the age of 18, she was presented in the role that would change her life. Then begin the euphoria of gothic romanticism that had spawned many clones.

Here we come to Breaking Dawn: part 2, now after the birth of Renesmee, the daughter of Bella and the vampire Edward Cullen, a time when the couple will face the wrath of the Volturi clan. Even with supernatural beings of their own new species, Bella fulfil the most important challenge of her life: to defend the daughter that you guess a glorious epic end to the series.

Of course, her career is not limited to Twilight and the headlines in the media. Because soon after the sequel should assume it’s the role in Snow White and the Huntsman, in which guesses will prolong diversity between blockbusters and challenges more independent. One goes through the expected participation in On the Road, the adaptation to the Brazilian Walter Salles made the legendary novel by Jack Kerouac. It was, indeed, the purpose of this film that we had the opportunity to interview Kristen Stewart during their world premiere in Cannes, and confirm how your life is marked by a before and after Twilight.

There are awkward moments in an interview, in which case the opposite of schedule. Instead of meeting with a media icon cautious, sensitive to certain issues and little available, we found a young casual in jeans and a T-shirt emblazoned with the logo of the pop band Blondie.

Visibly attacked by a violent cold, nasal voice, but without it affecting a speech fluent and intelligent.

Welcome!

I apologize but I am very congested. I got sick as soon as I arrived in Cannes. But I'm feeling a lot better now, thanks.

You must be accustomed to all this madness around you. Do you like giving interviews?

Of course it's different for each movie, but I think that it completes the process. And I have more and more fun. To be honest, I often only think certain things when someone asks me a question.

Being invited for "On the Road" was a dream come true?

It was my favorite book. I was 14 or 15 years old when I read it. In a sense it represents a stage of our life when we choose who is our family and who are our friends. It celebrates the fact that we establish new values and priorities in our life. It may seem obvious to say this, but life is not easy.

How do you feel about the arrival of "Breaking Dawn part 2" and the end of this franchise?

I didn't want it to go away. But I've lived with it so many years that I feel some pleasure to move on. Sometimes it happens the opposite; we're making a movie for 5 weeks and we keep the feeling of wanting more. In the case of "Twilight". I think I did the best I could and now its time to move on. However, I'm proud of what I did and all my colleagues.

In emotional terms, how would you define this experience?

It is a saga that touched me deeply. In this case, I can't choose the words well. because it was all very emotional. It is something that stays there, between the heart and the stomach. It is at the same time something spiritual and also physical. I was really lucky, it was nothing I had planned. I assume this projects because I feel some emotional connection with them. In "Snow White and the Huntsman" I'm proving myself at the same time that I keep credibility of the franchise. This without losing the credit of the independent cinema as it happens now with "On the Road".

Do you think that it is hard to keep a position between the industry and the side of being more independent?

I don't want to belong to an entertainment industry, neither I want to inculcate something to sell to people. So I don't really feel interesting, I think that my characters are more interesting than I am.

The truth is that people find you very interesting. It was, moreover, because of this franchise that you became a recognized actress. Don’t you get scared when people chase you because of Twilight? What do you feel in these moments?

The reason why I like what I do is because there is an energy that crosses ourselves when we do something with someone we love. We can be alone in a room and laugh at something that's funny, but it will be definitely different if there is someone in the room with us - there we will be rolling around laughing. Fortunately, I’m in a rare position where I feel very appreciated. Being able to share this with someone is something unique. Being able to be less intimate with the public that with the director or with actors or even in an interview. I would be craz if I don’t feel affected with the possibility to share this feeling with so much people.

So people that can not define limits don’t worry you…

I focus much more on people that like me than in people that are less well-intentioned. It is still crazy when I’m on tour or in a Twilight set. For those who are outside it is more delusional than it really is. The secret is to walk always really fast. But for me it’s all ok…

With this mediatic madness that you are target, do you feel that you can not live the type of liberty that other people have?

In reality, I feel free to do everything that is in my head. I imagine that I protect myself a little, but I don’t feel private to do anything. It’s truth that it took a long time to establish limits. I mostly feel that I was far from my ideal. I felt that I could not keep that rationality. But, now, I know exactly what I want to do. And I think that it is a madness when people find interesting to sell themselves. There are people that can sell personalities. I don’t know how they believe it. I’ll never do that.

And you are still very young to don’t feel always in the clouds. About that, who makes you feel that your feet are in land?

You, the press… (laughs)

(laughs) Really? You are joking…

It’s funny, because you think that actors don’t like doing interviews. Sometimes I only think in somethings when you do a certain question. And thins is someting that i don’t talk with anyone else, it’s someting that I develop only during interviews. Of course that I have a good affective basis, I have a family that is very united. Saying that they support me very much can be a cliché, but it’s true.

At what point it’s difficult to manage your personal life and the mediatic attention over you and Robert? Can you have time for yourselves?

As I said, I don’t feel private of anything. I do what I want.

But we have the feeling that the security that you talked did not became arrogance. It was a difficult process?

It was not easy. It a process of learning, testing on the basis of the trial and error. I began very soon, but I tried to deepen it on the Twilight set. Now that I think about that, I think that at the age of 17 it’s a bit soon to start thinking about me and to analyze my steps.

Kristen you started working really early. Do you remember when these cinema experiments started to became more serious?

At the beginning I thought it was just a job. I admired my parents, that were fascinated for movies. What I wanted was that adults spoke to me. That's why I went to sets and wanted them to give me attention.

Is there a movie that helped you in that decision to be an actress?

Yes. A Woman Under the Influence, by John Cassavetes [1974].

Have you ever thought how would your life be if you weren´t an actress?

I really don´t now what to say. I think that I would have to go back to that choice to understand.

What's the most precious thing you take from Twilight?

Hummm... Interesting. It's hard to be specific. It were four years of my life. Now, you've got me unprepared... Every day I thought I could do better that I did the day before. The truth is that I end to feel that in each movie. At the end, it was another movie too...

Do you think that helped you to grow up? As a woman, as a human being?

Of course. It helped me in everthing I've done. I've been there so long, but that characters remain with us. I think some of the films affected me more than others, but my choices were always so rewarding that it's hard to choose one.

Bruce Springsteen has a music called Born to Run, in which you have to run to, finally, be able to walk at sun. Do you like most to run or to walk at sun?

It really is a perfect theme for On the Road. At some time, in our life, we have to walk at sun. We can't be permanently searching. That's why this insatiable men's life who couldn't walk at sun ended up, sometimes, in a tragic way. Fortunately, my character lived until 80, had four weddings and a beautiful daughter. Yes, I think that at some time, we have to settle down... Although, I'm not old enough to answer very wisely to that question...

More details & synopsis on Kristen's new project 'Sils Maria'

"Shooting begins this summer in Switzerland. The next Olivier Assayas film presents an exciting cosmopolitan distribution that includes Juliette Binoche in the role of a famous actress, Kristen Stewart is one of her assistants and Chloë Moretz is the young Hollywood actress."

Location: Germany and Switzerland - Allemagne (Leipiz et Berlin) – Suisse (Sils Maria)

Runtime: 1 hour & 50 minutes

Character: Valentine / Kristen Stewart - 25 years, Maria Enders assistant. A little more than a worker: her friend, her confidante. Both near and far. Also like Maria, she is very lonely.

Synopsis

At eighteen, Maria Enders was successful in theatre with MalojaSnake. She played Sigird, an ambitious girl with disorder charm who fascinated and led to suicide Helena, a mature woman.

This role has changed her life.

More than twenty years have passed when, at the peak of her fame, she was asked to receive in Zurich a prestigious award on behalf of Wilhelm Melchior, the author and director to which she owes her early recognition, and now lives as a recluse, in Sils Maria (Switzlerland).

But the sudden death of the latter, a few hours before the ceremony, puts Maria Enders against the vertigo of time, that is of a past which she hasn't got away with.

And even more when a young director in vogue asks her to play again in MalojaSnake, but this time on the other side of the story, Helena's, from the destruction of who she's built her notoriety.

Caught in the turmoil of a divorce, which deprives her of any sentimental support, her only interlocutor is her assistant, Valentine, both the multi task assistant and her only friend, even if Maria and Valentine are trying to remove ambiguities of this intimate and exclusive relationship.

But the real threat is called Jo-Ann Ellis, a very young Hollywood actress with a scandalous reputation and who'll play Sigrid. At once a rival and a disturbing mirror of her youth, which she will have no choice but to deal with.

In order to reconcile with time, with age, with maturity, ending by learning that at all seasons of a life you must conquer freedom, independence and also the strength to be yourself, and sometimes painfully.

More details

20 years after her huge success with the role of „Sigrid“, a very young girl, who fascinates a mature woman named Helena and drives her finally into suicide, Maria Enders gets confrontated with the same play, this time from the perspective of her former counterpart. Is she ready to be the victim now? Is she ready to get confronted with doubts, questions and insecurities, which she avoided so far but come along with matureness?

Director: Olivier Assayas
Producer: Karl Baumgartner, Thanassis Karathanos, Charles Gillibert, Jean-Louis Porchet, Gérard Ruey

Confirmed: Kristen to star in 'Camp X-Ray' and 'Sils Maria'

Source Deadline

Kristen Stewart has committed to star in back to back projects shooting this summer. She will star in Camp X-Ray, a politically charged drama written and directed by Peter Sattler, and she will also star in the Olivier Assayas-directed Sils Maria.

In Camp X-Ray, Stewart will play a young soldier who escapes her suffocating small town by joining the military, only to find that she isn’t going for a tour of duty in Iraq as she hoped. Instead, she’s sent to Guantanamo. Met with hatred and abuse from the Muslim men in her charge, she forges an odd friendship with a young man who has been imprisoned at Gitmo for eight years. The film’s being produced by Gina Kwon and Sophia Lin, and exec produced by David Gordon Green, Lindsay Williams and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. Production begins late summer.

Stewart will join Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz in Sils Maria, the CG Cinema-produced English language film that Assayas wrote for his Summer Hours star Binoche. The film explores middle age and that introspective period where one questions how they’ve spent their life so far and what they’ve accomplished. The title refers to the Swiss setting, and Stewart plays the assistant to Binoche’s character, an actress who becomes obsessed with a young actress (Moretz) playing the role that made the older actress famous when she was young. The film shoots this summer in Europe. IFC acquired this film for distribution just before Cannes.

Stewart is repped by Gersh and McKuin Frankel Whitehead, and Sattler is repped by UTA, Gotham Group and attorney Adam Kaller.

Source THR

Kristen Stewart has booked two indie dramas that she hopes to shoot this summer, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The actress will first star in Camp X-Ray, a war-on-terror drama that is being directed by first-time helmer Peter Sattler. She will then move to Sils Maria, where she joins Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz in a story that focuses on growing old.

X-Ray, which is eyeing a mid-July shoot, will see Stewart play a female soldier who is stationed at Guantanamo Bay and she forms an unlikely bond with one of the prisoners.

A modern-set story, Maria sees Binoche as an aging actress who, after her muse dies, agrees to star in a reproduction of his most famous play, but opposite the young role that once made her famous.

Moretz is playing a scandal-ridden Hollywood star who is slotted for the young role.

In a supporting part, Stewart will play Binoche’s assistant, a paradigm of youth. (Mia Wasikowska was originally attached to the role.)

French filmmaker Oliver Assayas wrote the script and is directing.

Additional Note: 'Sils Maria' is being produced by 'On the Road's Charles Gillibert's (@charlegillibert ) new production company, CG Cinema. He has also confirmed that Tom Sturridge will be co-starring with Kristen.

Joss Whedon mentions Kristen

"Kristen Stewart is kind of captivating," he continues, "she can just stare at stuff and it works because I still want to watch it. But it does seem a bit passive. 'I don't know which beautiful boy to choose between!' is not exactly the struggle that every girl is going through."
