Kristen wins Best Actress for 'Spencer' at the Satellite Awards

LOS ANGELES – A spectacular and diverse collection of motion pictures including “The Power of the Dog,” “Belfast,” “Licorice Pizza,” and “tick, tick … Boom!” are among the top nominees for the 26th Annual Satellite™ Awards selected by the International Press Academy.

The IPA’s other notable recognitions include critically acclaimed creator Lin-Manuel Miranda for the Auteur Award, Val Kilmer for the Humanitarian Award, Halle Berry for Best First Feature as director for “Bruised,” and innovative visual effects supervisor Joan Collins Carey as the first female recipient of the association’s prestigious Tesla Award.

The Best Actress – Drama category this year is marked by outstanding competition. Kristen Stewart “Spencer”, Penelope Cruz “Parallel Mothers”, Nicole Kidman “Being the Ricardos”, and Lady Gaga “House of Gucci”. In the Best Actress – Comedy or Musical category, Melissa Barrera “In the Heights” and Renate Reinsve “The Worst Person in the World” are among the nominees.

Best Actor – Drama nominees include Will Smith “King Richard”, Joaquin Phoenix “C’mon, C’mon”, and Benedict Cumberbatch ”The Power of the Dog”. Nominees for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical are Peter Dinklage “Cyrano”, Andrew Garfield “tick, tick … Boom!”, and Anthony Ramos “In The Heights”.

In the TV categories, “Big Sky,” “Nine Perfect Strangers,” and “Succession” are among the multiple category drama nominees, while “The Kominsky Method,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and “Ted Lasso” are among the multiple category comedy nominees.

The International Press Academy selects SATELLITE™ AWARDS nominees from domestic and international submissions for 36 categories: 23 Motion Picture and 13 Television. Nominations are derived from advance screenings at film festivals worldwide (i.e. BAFTA, Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, TIFF), as well as consideration screeners sent to individual journalists and/or sanctioned links as available by the deadline.

The Satellite™ Awards winners will be presented with their awards on April 2 2022 in Los Angeles, along with the Mary Pickford Special Achievement Award recipient.
