Stephenie Meyer Talks About Working with Kristen Stewart on "Breaking Dawn" with USA Today

Stephenie Meyer mentions Kristen Stewart on filming "Breaking Dawn":
  • The much-anticipated wedding of Edward and Bella has not been filmed yet, but Stewart is being fitted for the as-yet-unrevealed bridal gown. "It's such an interesting mix," says Meyer. "It has a vintage feel, but at the same time, there's an edge to it. It's really beautiful. And then on Kristen — oh, she looks amazing in clothes —and in that dress she's so lithe and unbelievable.
  • Fans, says Meyer, can expect a surprising performance when Stewart transforms from human to vampire. "She's created a new character. I was really impressed. I've only really seen her as (the human) Bella, so to have her step up and change it in the right way — she didn't have to talk to me. She knew. She knows the character so well now. She has really good instincts, and she looks amazing."

"She’s actually good! She was really impressive.” - Rob on Kristen in his Empire interview

“But I’d seen Into The Wild, and I thought Kristen (Stewart) was really good in it. They said, ‘Oh, that’s the girl playing Bella.’ And I was like ’Shit, she’s actually good!’ So I did a reading with her, and she was really impressive.”

Vanity Fair Honors Kristen Stewart a Year Before Twilight Mania Began

Vanity Fair knows exactly who’s in and who’s not. Back in 2007, the magazine featured Kristen Stewart for their “Vanities Section” even before the Twilight mania began.

Since September 2006, Vanity Fair has been featuring a full-page 50s-styled pinup portrait of a promising young star the magazine chooses for each month. The magazine describes the pinup featured stars as “names you need to know and faces you won’t have trouble remembering.”
On April 2007, Kristen Stewart became one of these featured stars as seen on the picture (above) photographed by James White. On the Vanity Fair website:

“Age: 17. Provenance: North Hollywood, California. You first glimpsed her as … Jodie Foster’s doppelgänger daughter in Panic Room (2002). “[Director] David Fincher does a lot of takes,” Stewart says. "There was this one scene we must have done, like, 80 times. I didn’t know that it wasn’t the norm. Now I wouldn’t be as chill with it … ” Because now she’s a prolific industry veteran, with four films due out this year. Namely, In the Land of Women, The Messengers, The Cake Eaters (the directorial debut of Mary Stuart Masterson, with Stewart in the lead role), and Sean Penn’s Into the Wild, based on the Jon Krakauer book. But is this the life for her? Not necessarily: “I want to go to college for literature. I want to be a writer. I mean, I love what I do, but it’s not all I want to do—be a professional liar for the rest of my life.” Still, Kristen’s no brooder: “I love big-band music, and I’m taking swing classes now. I can’t wait till I’m going to be able to be tossed up in the air.”

Yes, Kristen has been acting since she was 8, but it was only until she became Bella Swan in Twilight film and played opposite Robert Pattinson did Kristen Stewart became an international star. With the Twilight sequel “New Moon” to start filming on March, and three films (“Welcome to the Rileys,” “The Runaways” and “K-11″) on the works, Vanity Fair had their prediction spot on.

David Fincher on Kristen Stewart on "Panic Room"

David Fincher: We cast Kristen Stewart [as the young girl], and she reminded me of a young Jodie Foster. She has that sort of great droll sense of humor.

Old Interview with Jodie Foster on Kristen: "She's a great. We hung out."

Betty: In this film, you have Kristen Stewart playing your daughter. Do you like working with children on set?

Jodie: I love working with kids. I always have. She's a great. We hung out. That's what we did. Never talked about the movie. Never talked about the characters. In between takes we'd talk about bands and stuff like that. I was lucky to be stuck with her. Really young actors work the same way that I work. That is they don't belabor it. All of the intellectual stuff [and research] they do ahead of time. And when it comes time to perform and somebody says action, you just do it. And then you talk about other stuff.

Walter Salles’ ‘On The Road’ Unlikely To Debut At Cannes - Indiewire

Put simply, Waltes Salles’ adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s “On The Road” is a film we’re anticipating this year with as much excitement as any other. Unfortunately it looks like that wait will have to be a tad longer as any surprise appearance at the Croisette this May is unlikely, with one of the film’s supporting cast members, Alice Braga, telling Pilula Pop the production is working towards a 2012 release after recently wrapping principal photography.

That schedule would put the film in line for a fall festival unveiling rather than Cannes this May—a sentiment reportedly backed by the pic’s French distributor’s MK2 —making for another major Croisette “dropout” alongside Wong Kar-wai‘s “The Grand Masters” and Pedro Almodóvar‘s “The Skin I Live In.” Braga, when asked about whether or not the film would be in black and white as Salles had valiantly campaigned for (and despite early photos hinting at such), said “No! It’s colorful!”

An adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s iconic novel, Salles’ film features an illustrious cast including Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi, Elisabeth Moss, Terrence Howard and Danny Morgan with the tale, of course, exploring the story of Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty (surrogates for Kerouac and Neal Cassady played by Hedlund and Riley), as they journey across the North American landscape in pursuit of self-knowledge and experience. The film also reunites Salles with his “The Motorcycle Diaries” DoP Eric Gautier, production designer Carlos Conti and composer Gustavo Santaolalla. Can you blame us for being excited?
Tasked with the job of adapting the novel, meanwhile, is another “The Motorcycle Diaries” alum in scribe José Rivera who recently described his efforts as an attempt to be “very faithful to ‘On The Road’ because it has so many fans. It’s a book that changed so many lives and I wanted to make sure that people got the ‘On The Road’ that they loved.”

“There’s a lot of the original book still in the screenplay, still in the film,” Rivera further explained to CityTV. “But also I brought in lots of other things like there’s a lot of poems of [Allen] Ginsberg, there’s material from Bill Burroughs, there’s stuff from Neal Cassady. In a lot of ways, the movie’s about the Beat Generation surrounding ‘On The Road.’ All those incredible personalities, all the crazy sex, drugs and rock’ n roll—uh, more jazz and rock n’ roll but that’s what their lives were about. I think we tried to capture the energy of that, the spontaneity and the reckless beauty of the whole time period.”
“One of the things you do as a screenwriter in an adaptation is try to improve the original which, I know, sounds really arrogant. ‘On The Road, like any book, has its flaws and one of the flaws is that the women characters are not very well developed. The women characters seem to be the ones that get pregnant, stay at home and are upset. I worked very hard to create three dimensional women characters. Hopefully no one will be upset by that but it is a departure.”

We can’t wait to see what Salles and Rivera have crafted here. Definitely sounds like they’ve gone above and beyond the words in Kerouac’s novel in bringing the Beat Generation to the silver screen which is certainly risky but we’ve got total faith in the duo behind ‘Motorcycle Diaries.’ Here’s hoping they can gun for a Venice or Toronto premiere but there is still plenty to look forward to at Cannes this year. Terrence Malick‘s “The Tree Of Life” is now locked and another film we didn’t expect is apparently racing to the finish to the line in time for the fest.

'Snow White and the Huntsman' update confirming Kristen as SW ( from various articles)

Article from Variety:

Pic, which is being produced by Joe Roth and directed by Rupert Sanders, already stars Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron. It was scheduled to start shooting sometime this fall and set for a Dec. 21, 2012, release.

Article from THR:

The movie is one of several Snow White projects in active development—and, with star Kristen Stewart and other cast members locked, the one furthest out of the gate.
Commercials helmer Rupert Sanders is making his directorial debut on the Joe Roth-produced pic, which has Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen.

Article from Indiewire:

Viggo’s exit, or appeared one, leaves Uni with Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as The Evil Queen, which is frankly still a very sittin’ pretty place to be. Conceivably there are many higher wattage stars out there that could take this role, but are any of them half the actor that Mortensen is? Though, does it matter. Written by Evan Daugherty, “Snow White and the Huntsman” is enjoyable enough of a read, but isn’t exactly like like high drama (a slightly goofier version of “Sherlock Holmes” strikes us as a somewhat similar tone). This is a tentpole and Viggo doesn’t exactly fit that bill anyhow. In the end, is it better for everyone? Cue Variety and Deadline with casting shortlist stories, the type of stories, we’d probably write too, but would probably feel slightly more remorse for.

"[Kristen Stewart] is very good. She's lovely, too." - Peter Murphy

Peter Murphy made a cameo in Eclipse and found below is an excerpt of his interview mentioning Kristen

Peter Murphy: I do too. I think that young actress [Kristen Stewart] is very good. She's lovely, too.

"She's kind of the smallest one, but she suits being a vampire."- Rob gives bits of Kristen as a Vampire in BD

Pattinson confirms he and Stewart have filmed the birth scene, and with a laugh, says the shooting was "kind of hilarious."

He explains: "She has to have this pregnant suit on all the time, that was probably more annoying for her," he said. That's not the only change you'll see in Bella.

"I can't give too much away but there's some bits, especially towards the end of the movie, she's just like the polar opposite of any of the other (films)," he says. "I mean, she's a different person, which is cool. She looks completely different. She looks probably the most convincing vampire out of all of us."

Meaning what, exactly? "A lot of us look like we're just from Mars," said Pattinson. "She's kind of the smallest one, but she suits being a vampire."

Next up: Breaking Dawn's wedding shoot, scheduled for April. "That's a hard scene too," he told us. Not to mention the flood of paparazzi who will try to get a shot of Bella and Edward headed down the aisle. "It's been OK in Vancouver in terms of people showing up and trying to get stuff," says Rob. "I have a feeling the wedding is going to be the one with (paparazzi) parasailing in." Talk about a money shot.

The Runaways included in the Cinematical Seven: Girl Gangs That Kick Ass

The Runaways

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning pop pills, pee on guitars, make out with girls and kick all kinds of ass while on stage performing as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie -- two members of the 70's band, The Runaways. The teenage girl group is brought together through their shared love of music and their equally miserable lives. They're like feral children set free on the road, and things stay wild. The girls have to contend with bottles being thrown at them, a verbally abusive and sadistic manager and male rocker machismo while on tour. Whatever gets dished out, the ladies take it like pros and prove they can party like rock stars in the process.

"She's the only woman who goes on the journey with the guys. And sassy and crazy on her own way."

"Marylou's daughter, Anne Marie, was part of the production. She & Kristen spent a lot of time together talking about her mom"

Kristen Stewart went fucking nuts when she saw my Joan Jett t shirt from L’Agence. Dakota Fanning was a bit more reserved, but incredibly cool. Joan Jett was holding court.

Kristen mention wearing Make Believe's shirt

TM: How do you promote your brand and what are your most effective marketing tactics?

David : Because our company is so new, we are given the freedom to experiment on marketing a little more. of course we do the whole twitter, tumblr, facebook sort of thing, but it has been most effective to get it into stylists hands. a big part of our branding is letting people see who is wearing it and what makes it stand out from other brands as young as we are.

Our shirt was worn by Kristen Stewart on the tonight’s show with Jay Leno a few months back. that has really opened up some doors for us and really gave us the opportunity to go whatever direction we wanted.

"I just love [co-star] Kristen Stewart" - Jodie Foster in her THR interview

Panic Room (2002)
"I just love [co-star] Kristen Stewart, but I didn’t think she’d choose to be an actress. I said to her mom, 'She doesn’t want that, right?' And she’s like, 'Well, yes, she kind of does.' Because she’s very much like me: She’s not comfortable in life being a big, externally emotional person, beating her chest, crying every five minutes. I felt she was such an intelligent technician, so interested in camera — I thought that would translate to other things."

Amanda Seyfried mentions Kristen in Marie Claire UK April 2011 issue

Amanda’s aware the classic Red Riding Hood remake – helmed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke – could transport her to a never level of fame, that might change her life forever. And, having noted what happened to Kristen Stewart, she’s both fearful and ambitious. ‘She’s [Kristen Stewart] uncomfortable with it,’ Amanda tells us, ‘but also, it’s like she’s only being noticed for that and she’s been working for so long.’

‘I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just a little bit annoyed at the Twilight comparisons,’ the Chanel-clad star says of her latest movie. Does she worry about being in Kristen Stewart’s situation? ‘I don’t think that will happen to me,’ she says. ‘I don’t think about it. What if it doesn’t do well? Then I won’t have to deal with it. If it does do well? It’s different from Twilight.’

Guillaume Henry talks about Kristen

"I find her super, super inspiring. She's like a rebellion chic, and I love that."

Do you have style icons or a muse? I’d say Charlotte Rampling or Charlotte Gainsbourg. She doesn’t know how chic she is! She doesn’t pretend to be fashion, she is fashion. I also love Chloe Sevigny and of the new generation I love Kristen Stewart! I love her on the red carpet with a minidress and Converse. I’d love to dress her in a bustier dress with Converse. She doesn’t pretend to be something else, she’s just cool. I haven’t seen one movie with her, but just pictures of her – she’s so cool! She can wear haute couture, but on her, it won’t look too prepared.

"Kristen is just her" - Lee Pace

Lee Pace has mentioned Kristen once again in his interview and had said great things about her. He plays Garrett in Breaking Dawn.

"Kristen hasn't lost any of that stuff that makes her special," Lee Pace, who is playing Edward's vampire BFF Garrett in the Breaking Dawn flicks, tells me. "People say it's quirky, but I think it is authentic."

"She doesn't march down these red carpets like a show monster," the former Pushing Daisies star continued. "You see these girls and they're all just like, 'I'm living the fantasy. I'm wearing $10,000 worth of clothes and jewelry.' Kristen's just not like that. Kristen is just her."

Lee Pace talks about BD & mentions Kristen in his interview

Lee Pace plays Garrett in Breaking Dawn and found below is an excerpt of his interview with MovieWeb mentioning Kristen. Read the rest here

I was wondering if you can talk about your role as Garrett in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Can you give us any details about the character? Is he one of the Volturi?

Lee Pace: No, I’m a good guy. I join Team Cullen. I’m only in the final movie. I play Garrett, who enters the scene in the last movie. I’m having a blast with it. Bill Condon is awesome. I mean, have you ever seen a movie of his that you didn’t like?

Well, no.

Lee Pace: That’s how I felt too. These movies are what they are. It’s not my kind of movie, but I have to say, working with Bill and having him show me some stuff, it’s totally my kind of movie. It’s really cool. It’s really cool and dark. He gets Kristen (Stewart) in a really great way. She looks incredible in the movie. She looks like a movie star.

Kristen on @chrisweitz "He’s so compassionate..." (old interview)

NOTE: Found below is an excerpt from an old interview which we are posting because of Chris Weitz' sweet words to Kristen. You may read the rest HERE

SMM: Can you tell us a bit about the next installment, Breaking Dawn?

KS: Well, it’s now been split into two movies. We start filming in November…

TL: I’m really excited that it’s going to be two movies. I think that’s going to work really well and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Bill Condon [the new director]. When I heard he was on board I was like, “OK, this is going to be golden.”

KS: I think each director has suited the projects perfectly. Catherine [Hardwicke, the director of the first movie] has a really strong connection to youth and discovery and stuff like that, and it’s really hard to describe how nice Chris [Weitz, the director of  New Moon] is. He’s so compassionate and has a wisdom about him – I really needed someone to look up to and who was willing to go to the depths with me. David [Slade, the director of Eclipse] has more of a morbid sensibility. Which is good as Eclipse gets a little scarier…

Teresa Palmer mentions Kristen in her interview

Do people often tell you that you look like Kristen Stewart?

I get recognized as her a lot and I think it's quite flattering… The shape of our faces is similar, the pointed chins and our lips, and the dark under our eyes. I can definitely see the resemblance… I would love to play sisters at some point in a movie.

I'm actually a huge fan of hers. I think what she does is very interesting – it's unlike anything I've seen someone do on screen before. She's kind of dark and brooding but she owns it. It is who she is. She's not trying to be anyone else. She's very natural as well, that thing she does with her hair and bites her lip. There's something so endearing about how awkward she can be.

Cannes 2011: #OTR considered as an A-list attraction

Found below is the OTR mention but you can read the rest HERE

A-list attractions

Cannes promotes itself on its deep respect of artistry, but the truth is that it also a bit of a mammoth star-shag. Those running the festival know that in order to maintain its position as the premier such event in the movie calendar, they need to attract those mega-movies that will bring all of the press corps out to play, not just those light-deprived hermits from the film division. Hence Robin Hood and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps last year. Hence Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls two years ago.

While the 2011 opening movie, Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, might be unlikely to attract huge audiences when it goes on general release, it will bring some glitz to the festival, not least in the form of French first lady, Carla Bruni. And two films which could potentially also add A-list pizazz without attracting any accusations of dumbing down are Walter Salles' adaptation of On the Road (starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart) and Paolo Sorrentino's This Must be the Place (starring 2008 jury president Sean Penn, and Frances McDormand). Whether either would be ready in time is entirely another matter.

On the Road.

Rob mentions Kristen in his VF interview

Excerpt of Rob's interview mentioning Kristen:

"Kristen is very focused on being and actress," Pattinson says, later, of Stewart. "I mean, that's what she is-she's an actress. Whereas I-I just don't really know."

Among the many things that now dog Pattinson wherever he goes are questions about the nature of his relationship with Stewart, 21. They are widely rumored to be having a torrid romance, something they refuse to confirm (even Oprah couldn't get it out of them). Other rumors maintain that talk of a romance is just publicity for the Twilight movies.

"Are you asking me if I'm really a vampire?," Pattinson says, laughing, when I join the nosy chorus, asking if his on-screen love mirrors his relationship in real-life. As I wait for an answer, Pattinson literally starts squirming. "Yes. Um. No, not really," he says. "It's pretty hard to...It's just very traumatic," he says cryptically.

"I mean, are you very intense about each other?," I ask.

"Oh, I don't know," he says finally. "She's cool. Even before I knew her I thought she was a really good actress. Like, I saw Into the Wild, and I thought she was really good in that. I still think there are very few girls in her class that are as good as she is. It's funny that she's the one doing this huge-thing." That is, Twilight.

"When this is over," says Pattinson, meaning the seemingly unstoppable Twilight entertainment machine, "the media will lose interest" in their alleged affair. He hopes. "There'll be nothing to say. It won't fit into a headline anymore. It won't fit into a template."
